Back to Work

Yesterday was the first day of team meetings, and it allowed me to witness the reshaping of our organization. It is definitely a lot more quiet with Crump, Wayne Gandy, Rod Coleman and especially "Mouth of the South" DeAngelo Hall no longer with us. Yardbarker, to be honest, DeAngelo and I did not get along that well when I first arrived (to keep it really real we never got along). I don't know what it is about DB's and me, but even in Baltimore, Chris McAlister and I butted heads initially. I want to assume that it is the Napoleon complex but C-Mac is not a little guy. Near the end of the season D-Hall and I began to understand each other, though. That may have been due, in part, to the departure of cancer of a coach, Petrino. It definitely helped the feng shui of the team because we now had a common enemy. But back to our 1st day volumandatory (I made this word up.) Because it says "voluntary" on the schedule, but if you don't show up to these workouts and meetings you might not want to show up at all). I had the chance to meet Michael Turner, the man for whom I am going to be blocking in the years to come. I believe the synergy there will lead to great things on the field. After reuniting with the Boys, meeting Turner and the new staff, all I can think of is Championship.

      It's easy to get it in. www.urbandictionary.com - you can be an author that defines the slang world along with a pro football player. I just checked and there's no definition for it.

  You have no idea how great it is to read an athlete actually speak in real terms. Nothing makes athletes sound more ridiculous than beating around the bush, and it gives us, the fans, a better insight to the players we watch. Thanks for keeping it real for us.

    i def feel u on that. it is like hearing fingernails on a chalkboard when i here athletes of all sports give the same repetitive monotone answers like "i just wanna give 110%" or "i love all my teamates, were like one big family" or "i think all our quarterbacks can lead us to a superbowl" The funny thing is that u might here me say something like that next season because you gotta be politically correct to stay in the league

  Interesting that the coach set a bad mood and got the whole team against him. My son had an offensive coach a couple of years ago that was so bad and mean that it just brought the kids down. You could tell by their play that they did not care about the game anymore, and DEFINITELY did not believe in the coach.

    Their coach sure set a bad mood, if that's what you want to call it. Not so sure its interesting that the players rallied around the hatred of an overbearing coach that left the team to take a college coaching position before the season was even over, though.

  Great to hear such an open and honest blog. And I'd LOL'd at "volumandatory" too. I often wondered about these "voluntary" workouts and now you've confirmed what I suspected. Not a Petrino fan huh?

  Ovie, I absolutely loved you on the Ravens and thought you were an unsung hero. I think Willis MaGahee might've wished you stuck around. Even though you're on another team, I remember how classy you seemed in interviews while you were in Baltimore, and I can't help but wish you the best on the Falcons.
  
  I only love Bmore, but it hurts to see a franchise go through what the Falcons have gone through, and I don't think the league needs any more grief. But I think that if they brought in a guy like you, their headed in the right direction.

    i really appreciate the support man i felt bad for my boys in bmore and would have loved to block for willis, but they say things happen for a reason, so i am hoping the reason is that the falcons are gonna rise from our ashes and make a playoof run and possible superbowl run. the great thing is that noone has an idea of what we are capable of but us.

    i played agains peppers in college when wake played unc, and ive put him on his back before. he is a great player but he is human like the rest of us. im actually looking forward to the next time we meet, just as i look forward to battling with shawn merriman, and the other elite defensive players in the league.     i am a humble dude, but sometimes i was humble to a fault. I always was afraid to offend anyone or for anyone to think i was cocky because i was the highest paid FB in NFL history last year, that i constantly downplayed my abilities and my accomplishments. Ive since then learned that its not OK to be cocky but its very healthy to be CONFIDENT and i plan to be that in every aspect of my life. I think everyone should use their god given gifts to the fullest

    alot gets accomplished in these workouts and meetings, especially for younger players because practice at anything makes perfect
