Believe Hope Change
If you're going to vote, I think you should vote for someone that will create the change that we need in this country. I know I might get in trouble because players aren't supposed to voice their political opinions, but I really think that Senator Obama is the right man to lead this country. I encourage everyone to go out on Election Day and let your voice be heard. I was lucky enough to participate in an amazing and inspirational video promoting Barack Obama and everything he stands for. Check out the link below.

Please do your own due diligence before voting... Don't do it because Ovie said so.

No one really speaks to me. Although I hear the message of Barack Obama and I like the video, my main problem is that everyone seems to expect massive changes, but no one seems to have any idea how that's going to happen. If Obama wins presidency, our economy is still going to be crashing to the ground when he takes office.
Even in the video, Ovie and everyone else talks about what's wrong with our country. But how can we make it right? I want to hear some better plans besides, "When Kennedy said he was going to the moon, no one knew how to do it but eventually we made it happen."
On the other hand, you could have a 72-year old curmudgeon in office. And if he dies, you could have, we can only hope, President Palin.
Decisions, decisions...

But if you feel strongly about something like this, then you have the platform, as a high-profile sportsperson, to speak out and to be heard. There are plenty of people who feel just as strongly but they don't have the platform to put that point of view forward. If you feel strongly and you have the platform, it is surely not only your right, but your duty to speak for the many who can't.
I won't say if I agree with your choice of candidate, but my opinion on your right - duty, even - to stand up remains the same regardless.
As a small side-issue, having a high-profile personality talking about the election will surely only help raise awareness and increase debate (as it clearly has on this page) and increase numbers at the polls. In country which champions democracy so strongly all over the world, surely this is a good thing.

I served in the Marine Corps and Obama not respecting the Pledge of Allegiance is a sore spot. It hurts me that he can't put his hand on his heart.
McCain seems like he has half a mind and isn't completely there. Scary.
I agree with ChumpNetwork. This is voting for the lesser of two evils.
Pinkpanthrrr replied October 16, 2008
I will give you just one of the hundred examples of what I am talking about..
My father served as a marine in Vietnam. He is like in mid fifties now. He had a stroke a few years back, and the VA is supposed to cover all of his medications and health issues. A couple of weeks ago, we went on a trip to Plymouth to go Whale watching, my father had forgotten his medication. Well we figured we could call the VA and they could call in a temp prescription for a one day dose. The nurse at the VA said they "don't do that" They wouldn't provide the medication.
So I asked her. "Why won't you do this? If you have medical professionals that can provide medication why can't they provide a prescription. What if he has a seizure?"
You know what she said to me?
"well if it is so important, why did he forget it?" What a f-in b*tch. If I had been anywhere near the VA I would have drove down there and kicked her a$$ in front of everyone.
That is sick. The guy has had 2 brain injuries! That's why he forgot you f-in bureaucratic wh*re!! I hope this happens to you some day. Where you need help and no one will give it to you because of some f-d up rule that the VA made up. Whenever my father needed help, they did not want to give it. I can only imagine what other veterans have to go through that may have had not as severe a problem then my father does. We have to pull teeth, get the community involved, call our senators, to help these veterans get benefits, and the aid they need. It shouldn't be that way.
You see these guys on the street? It's because no one wants to help them. They are mentally ill, or physically sick. Either way the government makes it very difficult to obtain health care once they are released from duty. It is sick and bureaucratic at its finest.
So when I hear McCain talk about being in Iraq for 8 to 100 years, and envisioning occupying OTHER countries as well, I feel sick in my stomach. Because I know how it is, and I am sure people in the military, as much as they love their country, know how this country treats its fellow soldiers. Perhaps McCain can find a Cindy McCain for some of these soldiers in need. That way they don't have to worry about how to fix the system, they can just feed off of the rich.

-Yes, she argued that she made a different argument which she never made DURING our conversion, she added that over an hour and a half later - which would not make it part of the original converstion.
-In regards to her augmented argument; yes it too is also invalid for the California Wildfires and the more recent storms in Texas occurred AFTER the failed bureaucracy of FEMA was addressed, so it had nothing to do with race, but with rather with time.

-It is far easier to ignorant and blind than sagacious and true. By the way, at one time the majority of Americans believed that slavery was good – was it? Of course not, so what the majority of people think is irrelevant to whether I am right or wrong. In regards to the TV, we all know the media is far more liberal, coincidently you are a far-left liberal… it seems if anyone is being influenced by the TV, or media, it is you… especially since you have yet to make one valid argument which is supported by relevant facts.
Pink: "I have even tried to joke with you yet, you think that everyone is attacking you … Come up to MA so me and my friends can kick your a$$. Ant..I may be the female but tenebrous is the one acting like a little B**ch"
-Ahh, I guess this is what passes for humor at your house – by the way how do you like working at the Bunny Ranch? If using logic and facts to state an opinion is "ACTING like being a B**ch", then so be it; but being rude, insulting, and arguing solely out of pure ignorance is actually BEING a "B**ch". As I stated above, when I caught you in an outright lie; good-bye and good riddance to you.
Pinkpanthrrr replied October 17, 2008
You can state no real world connections between you and your party..By real world I mean YOU actually living in this physical world and experiencing first hand what you are talking about. The things you say come out of a history book or from C-Span. Democrats didn't vote for the levies? Oh REALLY? Do you sit there watching C-Span taking notes on random levy laws? WOW Gold star for you friend!
I log on while I am at work. I stare at code all day so I use YBN to pass my time and keep me sane. I don't need to respond to you. As we all can see you are so full of yourself and feel your view is the only way to think.
I have even tried to joke with you yet, you think that everyone is attacking you. I went home, had a drink made dinner and relaxed..What did YOU do? You stayed on here yelling at a computer screen, googlilng things to make a point that no one cares about. YOU are full of it. Come up to MA so me and my friends can kick your a$$.
Ant..I may be the female but tenebrous is the one acting like a little B**ch

In contrast; arguing that merely because he is black, he is somehow unqualified to be president or using racial slurs to insult the man IS racist – but pointing out that Obama has spent over 20 years, in what many consider to be a racist establishment is not in itself racist. Neither is pointing out Obama's other dubious relationships with Bill Ayers or Tony Rezko – unless, of course, any criticism of Obama is itself considered racist on Yardbarker.
If this is the case, it could be argued that Yardbarker, itself, is perhaps engaging in its own sort of racism by denying any criticism, even legitimate ones, of Obama…
Tenebrous replied October 17, 2008
-Ok, then prove it with facts and logic not a sermon based upon your personal beliefs... what is about logic and facts that liberals despise so much? Perhaps, they hate them becuase they tend to lead to truth, which too many liberals absolutely hate. See, I can do it too.
Tenebrous replied October 18, 2008
-Of course you are not here to prove anything… maybe you just don't like facts, or maybe you don't like truth… regardless, merely stating that someone is wrong without being able to prove it is a waste of time… so, good-bye.
Signed your forgotten friend… common sense…
