WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney and challenger Ryan Garcia, were scheduled to throw out the first pitch in the New York Mets game verses the Pittsburg Pirates on Tuesday but those plans were canceled. The two were involved in a minor altercation on the Empire building while promoting their fight on Saturday April 20th at the Barclays Arena.

The Mets were concerned of another incident happening with the two fighters, so they said no to allowing them to throw out the first pitch. Considering the fact that the Mets didn’t have any hand into the promotion, it was a probably a good decision on their end but the Mets went on to beat the Pirates 3-1.

Expect fireworks on Saturday when Haney and Garcia steps into the ring. Both fighters don’t like each other and have shared their war of words. Garcia has taken on the role of the villain in this bout. A lot of people are questioning Garcia’s mental health after numerous rants over social media. Video of Garcia’s trainer Derrick James looking frustrated surfaced on social media well. Are these tactics by Garcia going to work in his favor? Or is this just a front to mask some serious issues that he’s dealing with? Fight fans has chimed in and some don’t feel like Garcia should be fighting right now.
