Bears quarterback and No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams opened as a 75-1 underdog to win the MVP award, a startling price for a player that hasn't touched a professional football field.

For reference, 2023 first overall pick Bryce Young opened as a 250-1 underdog to win the MVP last season. Trevor Lawrence in 2021 opened as a 200-1 dog to win the award before closing at 80-1.

Williams' odds at +7500 are tied for the second-shortest odds for a rookie over the last 15 years.

Only Saquon Barkley in 2018 at +6600 and Melvin Gordon in 2015 at +7500 had better or the same odds to win the award. Both of the running backs didn't receive a single MVP vote in either season.

Kyler Murray in 2019, Trevor Lawrence in 2021 and Mac Jones in 2021 all opened the season with +8000 odds as rookies. None of those three rookie quarterbacks received a vote to win MVP or Offensive Player of the Year, either.

Williams' odds are tied for 21st-best in the NFL with Deshaun Watson.

The leaders in the marketplace are Patrick Mahomes (+650), Josh Allen (+800), CJ Stroud (+1000) and Joe Burrow (+1000).
