The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired Connor Brogdon from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for Minor League pitcher Benony Robles.

The trade adds another pitcher with MLB experience to the Dodgers organization. They potentially will lose Dinelson Lamet, who was designated for assignment on Saturday as a corresponding move to Gus Varland getting recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Robles had been in the Dodgers farm system since signing as an international free agent out of the Dominican Republic in July 2017.

He spent last year with High-A Great Lakes, going 4-2 with 12 saves, a 3.86 ERA and 1.16 WHIP across 33 games (one start).

During five Minor League seasons thus far, Robles is a combined 13-16 with a 4.67 ERA and 277 strikeouts over 250.2 innings pitched. Robles was back with the Loons, who began their 2024 schedule on Friday, but he did not appear in their Opening Day game.

What to know about Connor Brogdon

Brogdon was a key contributor for the Phillies during their 2022 World Series run but has regressed since that point.

Brogdon was designated for assignment by the Phillies on April 2. He made three appearances this year, allowing six runs in just two innings. Command was an issue as the right-hander issued six walks during those three games and he also allowed two home runs.

The 29-year-old stands 6’6 and went 10-8 with a 3.88 ERA in 142 games (two starts) over parts of five seasons with the Phillies. He was selected by Philadelphia in the 10th round of the 2017 MLB Draft.

Brogdon is out of Minor League options, which would require the Dodgers to place him on waivers if he is added to the active roster and later needs to be removed.
