Roughly three days after reports emerged the Braves were acquiring the 29-year-old free agent, Puig announced via social media that he tested positive for the coronavirus.

While Puig wrote that he is asymptomatic, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported the Braves are now looking elsewhere as Puig quarantines and waits to produce at least two negative coronavirus test results.
Atlanta outfielder Nick Markakis opted out of participating amid the worsening pandemic and isn't available, but the club announced on Friday that first baseman Freddie Freeman was cleared to return after a battle with the coronavirus.
