Former Bayern Munich star Mario Basler has taken aim at Benjamin Pavard.

The France defender left Bayern for Inter Milan last week.

Basler said on his Basler Ballert podcast: "In defense the Bavarians only have a real right-back and without another player in that role in the Champions League the journey could be difficult."

Basler then said of Pavard's departure: "We have to ask ourselves why he did it when there isn't a replacement yet.

"Laimer is not a full-back... How did he come up with the idea of leaving Bavaria to go to Inter? What was going through his head? We need to understand which bullet hit him... He didn't get along with Tuchel, that's what they say.

"There must have been a lot of tension between the two. Now there's Marzraoui, who is doing very well, but will he be able to do so for the whole season? What if he gets injured? No Bayern fan should understand, Pavard had announced for weeks that he wanted to leave."
